Gentlemen to whom the same had been referred in pursuance of the Resolution of the last Board; And having maturely & deliberately weighed the same, were of Opinion that the experiments already made of the Watch have not been sufficient to determine the Longitude at sea; And thereupon came to the following Resolutions, vizt.

That Mr Harrison, or some proper Person in his stead, do proceed again to the West Indies to make further Trial of his said Watch and also of his Clock agreeable to the plan laid down by the Royal Society and his own proposal contained in his Memorial of the 3d of October last.

That it appears to them that the said Watch, tho^ not yet found to be of such great Use for discovering the Longitude as required by the Act of the 12th of Queen Anne, is nevertheless an Invention of considerable Utility to the Public and therefore (being the Majority of the Commissioners appointed by Parliament) they think fit, in pursuance of the power reposed in them, to bestow upon the said Mr Harrison the Sum of Two Thousand, Five Hundred Pounds, as a Reward for his said Invention to be paid in the following proportions, Viz.t
