The Reports of the Astronomer Royal, Dr Shepherd, Mr Horsnby & Mr Waring, upon the said Mr Dunthorne's improved Method of computing the Effects of Parallax & Refraction upon the Moon's distance from a Star (which was referred to their consideration on the 12th of September last) were read, And the Board thereupon,

Resolved,

That £50 be given to the said Mr Dunthorne as a Recompense for his Improvements therein; And that his said Method be printed at the end of the Ephemerides with Explanations and Examples.

Resolved,

That £50 be also given to Mr Israel Lyons, as a Recompense for another improved Method of computing the same, invented by him, which has been already ordered to be printed at the end of the Ephemerides.

Lord Howe having delivered to the Board a Proposal from Mr John Bird, Mathematical Instrument Maker in the Strand, offering, for the Sum of £500, to instruct an Apprentice, and also another Person occasionally in his Method of making Astronomical Instruments; To give an Account of his said Method in writing; And, as the House in which he now lives is very inconvenient & much out of Repair, to build, on the Surry side
