Longerenong | Wimmera

Nov 12th. 1867.

My Dear Dr. Mueller

I send you answers to a few of the questions sent by Mr Darwin.2 I could not answer the others with sufficient accuracy. I have endeavoured to get the missionaries in this neighbourhood to answer them but have not yet received their answers—3 As soon as I do so I shall forward them

And remain | Yours Truly | Saml Wilson

Notes

1

Samuel Wilson and Ferdinand von Mueller are both cited in Expression.

2

CD had sent a handwritten copy of his queries about expression with his letter to Mueller of 28 February [1867], asking Mueller to forward it to someone capable of answering the questions from direct observation of Aboriginal peoples. The enclosure has not been found.

3

The missionaries have not been identified. However, the missionaries Friedrich August Hagenauer and John Bulmer, both, like Wilson, working in Victoria, Australia, are cited in Expression, pp. 19–20.
