Canna Wars . 1869. Another — new experiment
I crossed with pollen frm distinct plant 29 flowers (seeng tht no pollen on stigma & yong flowers) & obtained 19 pods, containg 200 seed, maximm 24, minimm 1 , average 10.53 ; but if 2 pods be excluded each with one seed, averge rises to 11.64. ]
31 flowers were fert. with pollen frm sam flower & prduced only 15 pods, containing 107 seed, with max. of 16 & minum of 1,^t1— averge 7.15 Excludng 1 pod with 1 seed, averge rises to 7.57. —
Weight, 200 crossd weighed 407^gr.3; therfor 200 wuld weigh 203.65
[ 106 self-fert seed weighed 219.3 gr. ; therfor 100 would weight 206.88 . Therfor th self-fert seed weight rathr th heaviest, & ther are on averge fewer seed in each capsule. But to test this I divided th crossed seed into 2 lots,— one containig 106 seed frm pods, containing 14 seeds & less & thes weighed 212^gr.9, «213»^t2 so tht almost exactly 2 gr. each.
